Mixology Monday With The Leveretts - Sage Berry Spritzer (Low Alcohol)

It's been a little while, we shouldn't have left you, without a dope drink to sip on (sip on, sip on). 

 We're back from our honey moon (more on that soon) and we are ready to share a low alcohol spritzer to start the week off!

So, you’ve made your fancy Martini and have some sweet or white vermouth just lying around and you’re in the mood for fruity libations (that means drink... get your mind out the gutter). Why not make a sage berry spritzer? We know... we know... spritzers are usually made with Prosecco or other sparkling wine. But vermouth is still wine at the end of the day & we will show you how to make that sparkle!

This recipe makes 2 drinks!  Let's get started!

Here's what you need:

For Garnish
4 Blueberries
2 Sage Leaves
2 Strawberries

 

For Drink
8-10 Strawberries (Quartered)
16-20 Blueberries (Small Handful)
4-5 Fresh Sage Leaves
1 Cup Sparkling Water
1 Cup Mancino Vermouth
2-4 Ice Cubes

You'll also need a Blender, Muddler, Shaker Cup, Hawthorn Strainer, Bar Spoon.
 

Let's Make the Drink:

  1. Place strawberries and blueberries in blender with a splash (1 oz) of vermouth. Blend until smooth.
  2. Place sage leaves in shaker cup with 1/2 oz vermouth.
  3. Use your muddler to mash the sage leaves.
  4. Add your berry blender mixture to the shaker cup.
  5. Add 1 cup Mancino Vermouth.
  6. Add Ice.
  7. Shake vigorously.
  8. Using your Hawthorn strainer, cover the shaker cup and strain into your glass. (Note: If you want less fruit bits in your drink, strain twice before pouring into your glass)
  9. Add 1/2 cup sparkling water to each glass. Stir Lightly.

Let's Assemble the Garnish:

  1. Skewer one end of the sage leaf, then add one blueberry.
  2. Fold the sage leaf over and skewer again. Add another blueberry.
  3. Skewer one strawberry.
  4. Repeat for 2nd garnish.
  5. Add to each drink.
