We were inspired to recreate this hot cocktail after traveling last week. After staying up late to finish packing, zooming through traffic and airport security; I spent $42 on 2 magazines and a snack, then Frank needed a coffee but also a cocktail. LOL Cafe Amaretto sounds like a lovely place to visit but it is actually an Italian cocktail typically made with hot coffee, cognac/brandy, amaretto & whipped cream. We skipped the whip and opted for froth and garnished with nutmeg. *chef's kiss* We hope you enjoy! As always, if you make any of our drinks, take a picture and share them with us online! This makes 1 drink! Let's get started!
1 oz. Amaretto (DiSaronno)
.5 oz. cognac (Courvoisier)
2 oz. Light Cream Froth
8 oz. Fresh Coffee
Sugar to taste
You will also need a mug, a bar spoon, milk/cream frother (or you can substitute with whip).
Add your freshly brewed coffee to your mug. (We used a hazelnut cream flavor blend for ours)
Add in Cognac/Brandy (.5 oz.) and Amaretto (1 oz.)
Top with Froth or Whipped Cream
Garnish with a dusting of nutmeg.
Add sugar to taste if necessary.
"The airport is a lawless place. 7am? Drink a beer. Tired? Sleep on the floor. Hungry? Chips now cost $17."
