Mixology Monday With The Leveretts - Beet-nik Gimlet

Hey There!

A few weeks ago we spent some time in Chicago. While there we dined at Beatnik, a boho chic, river side Moroccan, French, Italian oasis. This place is an entire mood. With our entrees, we ordered their heirloom carrots which were served on top of their roasted beet tahini hummus and we fell in love with the combination.  We hope you enjoy our interpretation of the dish in cocktail form!! This makes 1 drink! Let's get started!

Here's what you need:

For Garnish
1 Sprig of Basil


For Drink
1 oz. Fresh squeezed lime juice (~1 Lime)
1 egg white
3-4 Basil leaves
Several dashes citrus bitters
0.75 oz. Simple syrup
1.25 oz.  Hendricks Lunar gin
1 ounce carrot juice
1 ounce beet juice
1 pinch of salt

Ice

You will also need a shaker cup and coup glass.

Let's Make the Drink!

  1. In your shaker cup, add:

    • Egg White (1)

    • Bitters (Several Dashes)

    • Basil (3-4 leaves)

    • Lime Juice (1 oz.)

  2. Dry shake (without ice) well for 30 seconds

  3. Add Remaining Ingredients:

    •  Simple syrup (3/4 oz)

    • Hendricks Lunar Gin (1 1/4 oz.) 

    • Carrot Juice (1 oz.)

    • Beet Juice (1 oz.)

    • Pinch of salt

    • Ice

  4. Shake Well

  5. Strain into your coup glass 

  6. Garnish with sprig of basil

  7. Enjoy!
