Mixology Monday With The Leveretts - Hazelnut Espresso Martini

November 16, 2020  •  Leave a Comment

Hey Hey!

The espresso martini was created by British bartender Dick Bradsell in the early 80s who allegedly whipped it up on the spot using old grounds of coffee for a model,  rumored to be Naomi Campbell or Kate Moss. The story goes, this model visited his bar and approached him asking for  “something to wake me up, then f*ck me up”. LOL ...so we had to put our spin on it and give it a try. If you are like us and enjoy a nice cup of coffee and a strong drink, this one is for you. As always, if you make any of our drinks, take a picture and share them with us online! This makes 1 drink. Let's get started!

Here's what you need:

For Garnish
3-5 Coffee Beans

For Drink
2 oz. Vodka (Handcrafted)
1/2 oz. Kahlua
1 oz. Hazelnut Espresso (freshly brewed... we used flavored coffee beans)
1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
1 Martini Glass (Chilled)

You will also need, shaker cup and strainer.

Let's Make the Drink!

  1. Place Martini glass(es) in fridge to chill (or freezer if impatient)
  2. In Shaker cup add:
    • Ice
    • Vodka
    • Simple Syrup
    • Kahlua
    • Espresso
  3. Shake Vigorously for 20-30 seconds.
    • To get a thick frothy top to your espresso martini, you need to shake the mixture for a few seconds past when you think your arms will fall off. The more you shake, the more froth you get. You may need to spoon the froth on top of your drink as it may be too stiff to pass through the strainer.
  4. Add your coffee bean garnish.
  5. Enjoy!
