This week’s Mixology Monday is an interpretation of black, not as the absence of light to be feared but as a something sweet to be embraced. This cocktail highlights the black raspberry through use of a French liqueur called Chambord. Black raspberries are sweet fruits which grow in a thorny prickly shrub sometimes referred to as bramble. This concept of fruit amongst thorns is explored in our Black-tini cocktail which pairs sweet black raspberries with the, sharp tartness of lemon. We hope you enjoy. This recipe makes 2 drinks. Let's get started!

Here's what you need:

For Garnish
2-6 Blackberries
2 Skewers/Cocktail Picks 
 

For Drink
3 oz. Vodka
2 oz. Blue Curaçao
1 oz. Chambord (Black Raspberry Liqueur)
1 oz. Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
Black Food Coloring (just a few drops)
Ice
2 Lemon Peel Strips (For Zest)
2 Martini Glasses

You'll also need a Shaker Cup, Strainer and Hawthorne Strainer.

Let's Make the Drink!

1. In a shaker cup, add:
   • Ice
   • Vodka
   • Blue Curaçao
   • Chambord
   • Lemon Juice
   • Food Coloring
2. Shake Vigorously for 30 seconds
3. Double Strain evenly between two martini glasses.
   • Note: Any time our cocktails include fresh squeezed juice and we don't want to include pulp in the cocktail, we double strain.
4. Garnish with a skewer/cocktail pick of black berries.
5. Twist your lemon peels above each glass to add zest.
6. Enjoy!
